Burglary epidemic in Keyworth

I don't want to frighten you unduly, but I have to pass on this urgent message to local readers in Keyworth.

I get the monthly crime summaries from the police and post them on this website. I also get the weekly reports of all the crimes that have been reported in Keyworth and other parts of Rushcliffe. The message is coming through very clearly that:

- Burglaries are steadily increasing.
- Thieves are readily using force to break windows or to force their way into homes and cars.
- It is happening everywhere - possibly in your street.
- Thieves are walking up and down our streets and trying doors.

Don't let it happen to you. Make it harder for the burglars. Lock your home, even when you pop out for a moment. Lock your front door if you are in the back garden or in another part of the house. Lock your car and put the key out of sight. If you have a garage, put the car in it - you have a better chance of finding it still there.

If you see someone acting strangely, phone the police, but don't intervene personally.

Phone the Crime Prevention Officer on 0115 967 0999 or visit

The police are making some process in tracking the offenders, who seem to be part of a semi-organised gang. We can all help the police to get the crime figures down.
