Bad weather and missed bins
Many bins in Rushcliffe were not emptied on Monday 2 February because of severe weather, as the refuse crews found it difficult or impossible to get into some roads. As a result, these bins are still out, waiting to be emptied.
Rushcliffe Borough Council is catching up with the backlog in priority order, i.e. those areas which were missed on Monday will be visited soonest. The backlog may take until the week beginning 9 February to be cleared, assuming the weather does not worsen.
Please continue to leave your bin out until it is emptied.
During this difficult period, you may need to bag your rubbish separately if there is no room for it in your wheelie-bin. Fortunately the cold weather is helping to keep down the smells and avoid health hazards.
The binmen are doing their best to catch up. Your patience and understanding will be much appreciated.
Update on Thursday 5 February
All collections planned for Thursday 5 February have had to be cancelled.
To assist the Council in the planned catch-up programme, there will be no collections of green bins on Friday 6 February, Monday 9 February and Tuesday 10 February.
