Heatseekers survey
- letters sent to wrong addresses
A thermal imaging survey was recently carried out of 3500 homes in the Keyworth area (please click here to read my recent article about it). 900 letters were subsequently sent to households who were considered to be in need of more insulation, as they had registered as "too hot" in the survey. However, it has now been discovered that 500 of these letters were sent to the wrong addresses, because of faulty computer software for linking the thermal images to the address database.
Letters of apology have been sent to householders from the Mark Group, the company which is working with Rushcliffe Borough Council on the survey. The Mark Group has accepted responsibility for the incident, which is not the Council's fault. Letters are soon being sent out to the correct households.
Please phone the Mark Group on 0845 390 9390 if you have received one of these letters and wish to discuss it further.
I support the idea of the survey and I am fully behind any initiative to improve insulation and reduce the use of home energy, but I am concerned at the way in which this survey has been handled. I hope the appropriate lessons are being learned before the survey is rolled out to the rest of the borough.
