Community Toilet Scheme
- a model for other councils

In my article of 31 July 2008 about provision of public toilets (please click here to link to that article), I referred to the Community Toilet Scheme being operated by the London Borough of Richmond-upon-Thames, and said it could provide a model for Rushcliffe and other councils to follow.

I have now visited Richmond to investigate the scheme and have produced a report for members and officers of Rushcliffe Borough Council, to aid their scrutiny of the scheme. Please click here for a copy of my report (PDF file).

The Community Toilet Scheme is attracting widespread interest, and the Mayor of London is now encouraging other London councils to investigate similar schemes. In an era of the decline of the traditional council toilet, the CTS could be the way forward.
