Following the recent rejection by the Borough Council's Cabinet of the proposals for the Council's off-street car parks outside West Bridgford, the Place Shaping and Community Engagement Group was asked to examine the proposals again with a view to:
- evaluating the effect of Civil Parking Enforcement (which started on 12 May)
- identifying the real problems associated with off-street parking
- undertaking further detailed consultation on the issues
During the meeting on 28 July, the point was repeatedly made that the problems with off-street parking had been abundantly researched and that extensive consultation had already been carried out. The point was also made that the wholesale rejection of the review meant that some relatively uncontroversial issues would not be addressed for the time being. These included:
- traffic orders to enable yellow lines to be enforced, e.g. on the service road (owned by RBC) in front of Keyworth Health Centre
- time-limited parking on part of the car park behind Budgens (in Church Drive, Keyworth)
The Group decided to re-convene the Member Panel (sub-committee) which did the detailed work on the review and to get it to hold 1 or 2 meetings, so that further recommendations could be made by October, before putting a revised scheme to Cabinet in November,
