Fuel thefts - beware!
Ringmaster have circulated the following warning about thefts of fuel (both home and motor):
The current high price of fuel is leading to an increase in various types of crime.
Householders and business people with heating oil tanks in their grounds should be aware that thieves are stealing the contents at night. Vehicle owners who park on the street should be aware of theft of fuel by cutting fuel lines and draining tanks, again at night. Number plates are being stolen to disguise the identity of vehicles in thefts from filling stations and other crimes.
Those who operate filling stations should be aware that thieves are typically filling their tanks to the maximum and also filling jerrycans or bottles.
All of these types of crime are at fairly low levels so far, but the continued increase in the price of fuel is likely to make them more prevalent.
