This follows the Government's recent announcement that Kingston-on-Soar had been dropped from the list of sites for proposed eco-towns and that Rushcliffe BC would be consulted about alternative sites.
A day afterwards, the Chief Executive advised councillors that RAF Newton had been identified as the only location in Rushcliffe which appeared to meet the Government's initial criteria for an eco-town of potentially 10,000 houses, even though there had been no debate and no consultation with the public.
The purpose of the meeting will be to examine this affair in the full gaze of public scrutiny and to ensure that the actions of Council officers and members will get the full treatment of the democratic process.
Please come to the meeting.
Members of the public are welcome to attend, but are not allowed to speak. You are advised to arrive early, to be sure of getting in.
