Glass recycling micro sites
being trialled

Rushcliffe Borough Council is trialling a new glass recycling facility (micro site) at its depot on Abbey Road in West Bridgford and is encouraging people who live locally to use it. The Council is going to start a big 6-month trial of its glass recycling plans, including micro sites, at the end of June, and will be working with parish councils in East Bridgford, Shelford and Bingham.

Micro sites are suitable for a small group of around 200 properties and are self-contained units with 3 bins for the different coloured glass. These are adapted from standard 240-litre wheelie-bins of the kind that are issued to householders. If the trials are successful, we can expect to see many more micro sites around the borough. Plans for kerbside collection of glass from homes have now been abandoned.
