Bluetooth detection
- handy for thieves

"Bluetooth" is the name of a wireless protocol for connecting computers and other electronic devices. It is seamless, portable and very convenient to its users. It is also very handy for thieves looking for equipment to steal.

How do they do it? They use
Bluetooth devices to discover whether or not locked car boots contain electronic items. If a device such as a laptop computer, mobile phone, digital camera, satnav or similar is powered-up, its presence can be discovered by a Bluetooth-enabled device. The next thing is a smashed window or forced boot-lid.

If you do have to leave a Bluetooth-compatible device in your car, please make sure it is out of sight in the boot and not powered-on. Then it won't transmit signals to the thief's detector
