Look after your sheds and bags
I have been asked by Rushcliffe Community Watch to pass on some useful seasonal advice on the security of your property.
First, ensure that any sheds or outbuildings on your property are secured. Invest in a decent lock and preferably also an alarm (both available from DIY stores). Don't leave anything valuable in a shed. If (for example) your lawn-mower is not being used during the winter, consider storing it in your garage. A bike should be stored in the garage (or secured with a decent bike lock). Lock any gates or doors that might prevent access to a shed.
Second, ladies should take special care over their handbags, especially during noisy crowded social events over the festive season. Never let your bag out of your sight. Don't put your bag in a supermarket trolley - your gaze will be distracted while you are doing the shopping. Don't make it easy for thieves - they won't make it easy for you, especially when you have to replace keys, credit cards etc. after a theft.
