Leisure centres now being operated
by Parkwood Leisure
From today (1 August), Rushcliffe's leisure centres are being operated by Parkwood Leisure Ltd. The 5 centres affected are Bingham, Cotgrave, Keyworth and Rushcliffe Leisure Centres and Rushcliffe Arena. East Leake Leisure Centre is not affected, as it is managed by McAlpine Business Services as part of the Private Finance Initiative.
Parkwood Leisure is part of the same group of companies as Glendale Golf, which has been running the Edwalton golf course for the past few years.
The land and buildings of the 5 leisure centres continue to be owned by Rushcliffe Borough Council (with its partner Nottinghamshire County Council in the case of the joint-use centres at Bingham, Keyworth and Rushcliffe), while the staff are now employed by Parkwood, and the day-to-day operations are carried out by Parkwood.
The transfer should not make much of a visible difference to the services and prices to customers. Please mail me if you have any comments about the service or the price.
