What to do if your bin is damaged

Some cases have been reported of wheelie-bins being split or damaged. For some unknown reason, this seems to happen more often with green bins (for garden waste) than for blue bins (dry recyclables) or grey bins (general waste), although the bins are designed to withstand the weights of garden waste and were tested extremely thoroughly before the contract was awarded to the supplier of the bins.

If this happens to you and your bin is no longer serviceable, no problem. Just phone Rushcliffe Borough Council on 0115 981 9911, report the damage and request a new bin. The Council has a very efficient and speedy replacement service, and will get a new bin out to you as soon as possible. Provided that the damage has not been caused by misuse or vandalism, there is no charge for the replacement.
