Keyworth Meadow Open Day
on 20 May
Keyworth Meadow will be holding its annual Open Day on Sunday 20 May 2007 between 10.00am and 4.00pm. All members of the public are welcome to visit, and there is no charge for entry.
Keyworth Meadow is a Local Nature Reserve owned by Keyworth Parish Council. It is a small area of river meadow preserved from mediaeval times and untouched by modern agriculture or chemicals. The Meadow is managed by a volunteer manager and a team of wardens, and the aim is to keep it unspoilt while welcoming visitors who will respect its preserved state and (hopefully) keep it that way.
The reserve can be approached from Lings Lane, off the corner of Main Street and Wysall Lane, at the southern end of Keyworth. It is not recommended that you attempt to drive to the reserve. It is necessary (and usually very pleasant!) to walk the 1500 metres (nearly a mile) from the main road down Lings Lane to the entrance of the reserve, then walk another 200 metres to the heart of the river meadow.
