Wind turbine for BGS approved

Further to my news article posted here on 12 January, I can now confirm that Rushcliffe Borough Council has granted planning permission for a wind turbine at the British Geological Survey (BGS). This will be an identical model to the turbines currently operating at Rushcliffe Country Park near Ruddington.

The turbine will be at the back of the BGS site and should not be clearly visible from the road or from any nearby houses. However, some local residents had expressed concerns over the potential noise and vibration from the turbine. Detailed studies of the noise levels have been carried out, and the Council's Environmental Health department will be ready to act in case the actual noise levels are higher than those forecast. It will be open to any residents to make an official complaint about noise and to have it investigated by the Council. In the last resort, the turbine can be shut down if it is deemed to be a statutory nuisance. But let's give it a chance first.
